What is HIFU Procedure? Everything You Need to Know

It’s finally happened. Your smile lines have turned to crow’s feet, and you’re starting to see a double chin in the mirror.

You knew getting older was inevitable, but you’re not ready for your face to look that way just yet. It’s time for a facelift.

But as you’re doing your research, you come across a new term: HIFU. Wait, what is a HIFU procedure?

You don’t have to get plastic surgery to keep your skin looking firm & younger. Read on to learn about a non-invasive way to renew your skin.

What Is a HIFU Procedure?

High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) started as a way to treat tumours. In time, clinicians learned it could be used as a cosmetic treatment. Now, people interested in improving skin appearance can get this procedure at many skincare clinics.

You may be wondering how HIFU works. Ultrasound energy targets skin cells under the surface layer. The heat from the energy stimulates the cells to produce more collagen. This protein provides structure to your skin, keeping it firm.

There are no injections or surgery with HIFU treatments. The energy is delivered directly to your skin through a specialised device.

Cosmetic HIFU is in skin tightening treatments, including facials and body sculpting.

Benefits of HIFU Procedures

Now that cosmetic procedures include safe HIFU treatments, more clients see benefits for their skin. This treatment helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

HIFU smooths the skin and lifts eyelids, cheeks, and eyebrows. Some clients notice an increase in jawline definition.

If your neck skin sags, HIFU can help tighten it. It also helps reduce the appearance of a double chin by tightening sagging skin in the area.

Because the treatment improves skin elasticity, it can also help with body sculpting.

One significant benefit of HIFU is that it is non-invasive. Surgical procedures such as facelifts involve anaesthesia and recovery time.

There is also an inherent health risk any time you cut into the body. Potential side effects of surgery include pain, bleeding, scarring, and complications from anaesthesia.

HIFU is a painless procedure. Some clients do feel a prickling sensation during the procedure, but there is no pain. Additionally, HIFU complications are rare and minor, such as temporary swelling and redness.

With HIFU, there is no preparation required before the procedure. The HIFU device is simply placed against your skin. Once the ultrasound energy has been applied, the device is removed.

There is no recovery time with HIFU. A client can go right back to normal activity once the procedure has been completed.

HIFU costs significantly less than a surgical procedure. That’s a great benefit for your bank account.
